Latoya van der Meer
FOUNDER & PHYSICS TEACHER
As a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience teaching various curricula across the globe, Latoya brings passion, clarity, and a wealth of examples and analogies to her lessons. She holds a BSc in Physics and Mathematics, a MSc in Medical Physics, a PGCE in Physics with Mathematics, and a MSc in Learning and Teaching from the University of Oxford on which she gained a distinction. She is also a published educational author, an Institute of Physics Scholar, and used to be a school leader for teacher professional development before founding Oxbridge Owls.
She strongly believes in developing students’ conceptual and mathematical understanding of physics concepts so that fundamental ideas can be applied to complex scenarios. Her focus is to help students think for themselves, explore ideas, and help them to see the connections between topics taught in the classroom. But most of all to enjoy their learning.
‘Physics is for all. It should be taught in such a way that it makes sense to students as we apply a lens to understanding phenomena that we experience on a daily basis.’
